Working on my own spanking stories, I have to remember that the basics of good fiction writing should always be first in the story. It’s easy to get caught up in the unique elements of a spanking-themed story. It isn’t just about the spanking. For a spanking story that a reader will remember and hopefully return to read again, think about these quick tips to improve your writing.
1. Show Don’t Tell. This one is drilled into any student of creative writing. Think about how you show the spanking scene.
“Jake slowly lowered her panties and delivered several sharp slaps to her bare bottom.”
Or
“Please, Jake, Don’t take off my panties. I promise to be good. OWWW!” Annie gasped at the first painful cracks on her bared bottom.
2. Create An Intriguing Title. Yes, I’m guilty of this one. This is the first thing the reader sees as she scans a web page. Which would you choose to read tonight?
The Next Door Neighbors
Or
Emily’s Learns An Unfair Lesson
Don’t you want to know what’s unfair about the lesson?
3. Know Your Audience. Even in writing spanking stories, keep your focus. Don’t try to write a story that pleases every flavor of spanking fans. Don’t try to cover discipline, erotic, maintenance, M/F, F/F, F/M, consensual, nonconsensual spankings all in one story. Be true to the characters you have created and your readers.
4. Spelling and Grammar Do Count. Even though this is the internet that doesn’t mean you can throw out all the rules. Quality writing still wins over poor writing. When I find a writer who writes well, I’ll make sure I read everything she’s written. Your readers will notice, and they will show you their appreciation with loyalty to your stories.
5. Proofread, Proofread, Proofread. I’m guilty of this too. It’s hard to proofread your own work. Whenever possible, ask someone to read through the story before you publish it to the web.

I’ll add the following….
6. Write something new. Add something into the story that sets it apart of “Generic Spanking Story #15″ and similar clones. The one compliment that I hear the most about my stories is that I add that special twist that makes it unlike anything my readers have seen before. For instance, over the Halloween holiday, I wrote a “Fantasy Friday” (spanking shorts in the first person perspective that I write about every other Friday) about a phantom hitchhiker that gets spanked by the person that picks her up. Not only did I pick an unusual subject for a spanking story, but I was also complimented that I even added a odd twist to the “phantom hitchhiker” urban myth, as such stories usually offer no hope to the ghost to find peace. In my story, however, the spanking eased the burden of guilt on the troubled spirit’s soul, allowing her to move on to the greater beyond. I may save this one for next Halloween, and then expand it to a full story. complete with detailed characters, setting and enough description to make your mouth water.
Great addition, Thomas! I completely agree. It’s probably why I don’t write more stories myself. It’s easier to just write husband spanks wife (that’s what I know!), but much harder to come up with something more unique. No doubt that is why your Fantasy Fridays are so popular.
I agree with Thomas.
I do get bored and slightly irritated by the generic DD story. I suppose that comes from my own desire that a story be above all believeable, and I have trouble with the supposed preponderance of DD relationships in the world.
LIke Thomas I try to put odd twists and jokes into my stories, and unusual settings.
I would add #7
Remember it is a story first and a spanking story second
Thanks for the great writing tips guys
It seems like it is things you should know but when the pen goes to the page, it seems like my head goes blank. Will definately take a look here before I write my next story.
Thomas Sir, in regards to your idea for next Halloween my mouth already is watering
*drool*
I agree entirely with all of the points made but actually putting the points into practice is not as easy as it sounds. I’ve been composing spanking stories for some time now and get quite turned on while I’m doing it but have never tried to get anything published.
I am often complimented on my use of English so actually putting the words together isn’t a problem but thinking up something original is. I’m never satisfied with the result or sure that they are good enough for somebody else to want to read them and they tend to get rather long as I never seem to know when, or how, to stop.
That’s where talent comes in I suppose, some people have got it and some haven’t.
