Well, there are lots of others but you don’t see them that often. One theme I’ve used recently is the woman who puts herself in a position of having to undergo corporal punishment either to keep her “cover” for an assignment or to accept punishment in someone else’s place–sort of the noble “Tale of Two Cities” theme. I actually used this motif in a novelette called Island Justice. Another might be the idea of getting into something like a psychological study that results in the person being punished as part of it, but she was unaware of that going in. The heroine does not always have to be “naughty” to get spanked. In fact sometimes the opposite is true.
There are I think three main things-characters that you come to know, a plot that is both clever and believable, and some degree of realism.
