Lucky, Lucky Me by Robin Smith

Most couples have a special day, one they set apart from the rest of the year and have little extra-special celebrations on.  I guess for most people it’s Valentine’s Day, but I personally think it’s a little sad when you let a greeting card company tell you what day should be special.  Whatever, to each her own.  Other couples pick their days in a more esoteric way, like, the anniversary of the day sea lions swarmed the coastal road, and they ended up trapped in their car for six hours, surrounded by angry sea lions, drinking cherry soda and necking like kids.  The couple, not the sea lions.  An experience like that is bound to make one’s relationship extra-special and therefore make the day likewise.  And the rest of us pick pre-made holidays, either because of some extraordinary significance, like they had their first kiss under the mistletoe on Christmas, or zombies ran amok through their town on Arbor Day, or maybe just because all the rest of the holidays were taken by other couples in their lives.  Whatever.

Mine is St. Patrick’s day.  Why?  Because I’m a lucky girl.
